Mavis Staples at BB King Blues
Mavis Staples played at BB King Blues on Sunday night in support of her new CD “Hope at The Hideout,” recorded live last June at Chicago’s “The Hideout.” Prince, who co-produced her 1989 CD “Time Waits For No One,” called her “the epitome of soul.”
Unfortunately, I missed the show due to a sickness I picked up flying back from Oakland on a filthy airplane. So, Mavis moves back to the list of people I really want to see play live. At some point, I’ll probably do a blog post featuring drawings of all the wonderful bands who are on that list who I haven’t had a chance to catch yet.
Until then, enjoy the drawing of Mavis and some of her songs, too.
